Compress Image | Compress Image Size Without Losing Quality | Reduce APK Size

Hey guys what's up this is Mayank, A Google certified Android app developer and welcome to this special video where I'm going to talk about a magical website which will help you to reduce your apk size.

So let's get started.

As a developer we always care about
1. Application performance.
2. Design.
3. User experience.
But most of the developers forget about one thing
4. Application size (APK size).

Now why does an apk size matter ?

The point no. 1 people consider how much data your app is going to consume and how long will it take to download.

As you can see every 6 MB increase in your app size. We can see a decrease conversation rate of 1%.



The point no. 2 the less your app uses storage the more space your user will get to store their videos and images. And to be honest you don't want user to uninstall your app because of storage out of space pop-up like below.

Let's come to the point.

Most of the app on Play Store contains many images and icons and if you notice these images and icon takes pretty much space around 10% to 45% in your app.

So today we will focus on this section only to reduce our apk size.

I will demonstrate how you can reduce your images from your project. Like you can see here in resources I have so many images.

Let's go to Explorer.

Go to explorer

Now select all and see the size 1.52 MB.

Let's see how much we can reduce.
Open tinypng.com in your browser and I'm going to select all the images and dragging into tinypng.com

And the result is here.

Look at the result

You can see almost 67 percent, 1 MB it saved.

I'm using this website from last one year and no one can beat this compression seriously.

Let's download all the images and compare with the original one. Original images were 1.52 MB.

And after compression it's just 512 KB.

And you can see without losing the quality of image.

We can see the difference. It's just 89 Kb and the left one was 264 Kb. Look at the difference 264 KB to 89 Kb and They both almost look equal.
